According to Iraf, this year’s Kazan Halal Exhibition was held with participation from approximately 100 companies from Islamic countries, including over 30 Afghan companies. Meanwhile, statistics show that Afghanistan’s imports from Tatarstan in the first four months of this year exceeded $30 million, representing a significant increase compared to the previous year.
Kazan Halal Exhibition and International Participation
The 17th Russia–Islamic World Economic Forum in Kazan, Russia, included the Kazan Halal Exhibition, with around 100 participating companies from Afghanistan, Russia, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Kazakhstan, and other countries.
Afghan companies, more than 30 in total, presented halal-certified products including food, clothing, cosmetics, and handicrafts, forming one of the largest national contingents at the exhibition.
45% Growth in Halal Trade with Afghanistan
According to economic officials in Tatarstan, Afghanistan imported over $30 million worth of halal products from the republic in the first four months of the year, a 45% increase compared to the same period last year.
Tatarstan had recorded $45 million in halal exports last year, and Afghanistan has now become one of the fastest-growing markets for this sector.
Taliban Delegation Visits Kazan, Anticipated New Agreements
Simultaneously, a delegation from the Taliban government, led by Neda Mohammad Nadim, acting Minister of Higher Education, arrived in Kazan to attend economic meetings and discussions with Russian officials.
This visit continues the process of expanding economic relations between Kabul and Moscow, which have grown over the past two years despite international sanctions against the Taliban and regional security concerns.
Russian officials noted that recent tensions between the Taliban and Pakistan have delayed some regional economic projects, but they expect agreements on fuel supply, agricultural products, transit, logistics, and infrastructure investment to be finalized during the Kazan meetings.
The Role of the Kazan Halal Exhibition in Halal Trade
The Kazan Halal Exhibition, held from May 14 to 18, 2026, at the AgroProm Park, is one of Russia’s most important events in trade with Islamic countries.
All products displayed at the exhibition are monitored and certified by the Tatarstan Halal Standards Committee, and the exhibition space is designed in accordance with Islamic requirements.
