U.S. Consulate in Peshawar, Pakistan to Close Permanently

Tehran-IRAF- the U.S. State Department sent this decision to Congress a few days ago, stating that the move would save approximately $7.5 million annually without harming U.S. national interests in Pakistan.

It is reported that the consulate currently employs 18 American diplomats and 89 local staff members.

This decision comes at a time when relations between the Pakistani government and the Taliban administration have become severely strained due to border clashes. Meanwhile, the United States has also demanded that the Taliban release three American citizens within the next three days.
