Iran Urges Afghan Arbaeen Pilgrims to Use Designated Border Crossings

Iran’s Central Arbaeen Headquarters has advised Afghan pilgrims traveling to Iraq for the Arbaeen pilgrimage to use designated border crossings, saying the measure is intended to facilitate services and improve the management of cross-border travel.

According to IRAF, the head of Iran’s Central Arbaeen Headquarters said all Arbaeen border crossings are prepared to receive pilgrims. However, he stressed that Afghan nationals should enter Iraq only through the designated routes to avoid potential problems.

He said Afghan nationals holding residency permits in Iran can benefit from the same Arbaeen services and facilities available to other pilgrims. To expedite their entry into Iraq, they have been advised to use the Shalamcheh border crossing.

The official added that Afghan nationals transiting through Iran on their way to Iraq should cross via the Chazzabeh border, allowing services to be provided without interruption and facilitating their passage.

He said compliance with the designated border arrangements would help reduce congestion at border crossings, facilitate service delivery, and improve the management of pilgrim movement during the Arbaeen period.
