According to Iraf, the high-ranking Taliban government delegation, headed by Neda Mohammad Nadim, acting Minister of Higher Education of this group, ended its trip to the city of Kazan in the Republic of Tatarstan, Russia, after attending the seventeenth “Russia and the Islamic World” meeting.
According to the press release of the Taliban Ministry of Higher Education, this delegation participated in this event with the aim of expanding scientific, economic, trade, and transit cooperation between Afghanistan and the Russian Federation.
During the trip, Afghan officials met with Rustam Minnikhanov, President of Tatarstan; Oleg Korobchenko, Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan; Alexey Overchuk, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia; and Aman Galdyev, Deputy Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan.
In these meetings, the economic situation of Afghanistan, the general policies of the Taliban government, and pathways for developing regional cooperation were discussed.
The acting Minister of Higher Education of the Taliban also met with Afghan businessmen and students residing in Kazan and visited the International Exhibition of Advanced Technologies, Oil and Gas Industries, Aerospace, and Industrial Products.
Simultaneously, the first meeting of the Afghanistan-Russia Joint Economic and Trade Commission was also held; a meeting that, according to Taliban officials, will pave the way for structuring economic cooperation between the two countries.
In the composition of this delegation, officials from the Ministries of Industry and Trade, Finance, Economy, Mines and Petroleum, Health, Agriculture, Water and Energy, the Taliban Ambassador to Moscow, and several other technical and economic officials were present.
