Iran’s Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, Major General Mohsen Rezaei, has said that accepting Tehran’s conditions is the only logical way for Washington to end the war, arguing that US President Donald Trump’s calculations regarding Iran were wrong and that the conflict was triggered by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
As reported by IRAF, Rezaei made the remarks in an interview with Al Jazeera, outlining Iran’s conditions for ending the conflict and warning of a stronger response to any further military action.
“It is in Washington’s interest to accept our conditions for ending the war. Our conditions are: ending the war on all fronts, releasing our frozen assets, and ending the naval blockade,” he said.
Rezaei warned that threats by US President Donald Trump would have no effect, saying Iran was prepared for a decisive war.
“Donald Trump’s threats will achieve nothing, and we are ready for a decisive and defining war. We know the weaknesses of the US military and are better prepared than before to confront its airstrikes. After the United States withdrew from the memorandum of understanding, we concluded that we needed to change our strategy toward Washington. In line with this, we recently tested an anti-ship missile near a US aircraft carrier,” he said.
The Iranian official also addressed the diplomatic efforts underway and outlined Tehran’s potential response to further attacks.
“We are determined in our defense, and in the event of an attack, we will target US bases and Washington’s interests in the region with greater force. Talks with Qatari and Pakistani mediators are continuing, and we have conveyed our conditions for negotiations to them,” Rezaei said.
On the future of Iran’s international nuclear cooperation, Rezaei said US and Israeli actions could provide grounds for Tehran to withdraw from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), while stressing that no decision had yet been made.
“The actions of the United States and Israel allow us to withdraw from the NPT. However, we have not yet made a decision to withdraw, and this issue depends directly on Washington’s behavior. We remain committed to the fatwa of the late Leader of the Revolution and have not changed our nuclear doctrine, but we do not know what will happen in the future,” he said.
Rezaei also addressed regional diplomacy, expressing support for an end to the conflict between Saudi Arabia and Yemen.
“We want the war between Saudi Arabia and Yemen to end, and we believe that the Yemenis also want to reach an agreement with Saudi Arabia,” he added.
