Tehran-IRAF- Mas’oud Pezeshkian, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and Shehbaz Sharif, Prime Minister of Pakistan, held a telephone conversation to exchange views on the latest regional developments and bilateral relations.
During the call, the President congratulated the faithful and Muslim people of Pakistan on the holy month of Ramadan and prayed for peace and tranquility for all Muslim nations.
Referring to recent developments, Pezeshkian stated that while the Islamic Republic of Iran was seriously engaged in negotiations to resolve issues, it was attacked for the second time by the United States and the Zionist regime. He described the attack as a criminal military assault that resulted in the martyrdom of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, along with several innocent compatriots, including school students.
The President added that the aggressors unfortunately took advantage of the airspace of neighboring countries to strike infrastructure facilities, public places, hospitals, and schools. In one instance, he said, a brutal attack on a school in Minab left 168 innocent students dead.
Emphasizing Iran’s defensive strategy, Pezeshkian noted that the Islamic Republic of Iran has no intention of targeting or engaging in conflict with countries in the region. He stated that only the bases from which attacks are launched against Iranian territory will be targeted within the framework of the country’s legitimate right to self‑defense.
The President also warned that if the international community and international organizations fail to address the main factors behind this imposed war and the military aggression against Iran, the prevailing conditions of global order and security will become chaotic and unstable.
Pezeshkian also expressed appreciation for the positions taken by the government, people, and political and religious figures of Pakistan in expressing solidarity with Iran and condemning the military aggression by the United States and the Zionist regime.
Shehbaz Sharif, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, in the same telephone conversation, shared the Ramadan greetings to the government and people of Iran and expressed hope that, with the blessings of this holy month, Muslim governments and nations would live in peace and tranquility.
Reaffirming his country’s principled position in condemning the aggression by the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran, the Pakistani Prime Minister conveyed the deep solidarity of the government and people of Pakistan with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Shehbaz Sharif also expressed condolences over the martyrdom of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution and congratulated the President, government, and people of Iran on the selection of Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei as the new leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran. He expressed hope that Iran would witness further progress and prosperity under his leadership.
At the end of the conversation, the Prime Minister expressed interest in continuing joint efforts to advance and strengthen relations between the two neighboring Muslim countries and to enhance cooperation among Islamic nations in the region.
During the call, both sides also emphasized the importance of expanding bilateral relations between Tehran and Islamabad and continuing diplomatic consultations at high levels.
