According to Iraf, Malek Setiz, a political researcher and analyst, described Trump’s recent visit to China as a “symbol of a significant change in political language and behavior.”
He noted that the banquet hosted by Chinese President Xi Jinping for Trump in Beijing created an unprecedented scene, where the U.S. president, contrary to his usual style, spoke with a tone full of respect, decorum, and consideration.
Setiz argued that Trump, who typically employs harsh, commanding, and sometimes humiliating language in his political discourse, described China not as an ordinary country but as “a civilization with deep roots, a decisive power in the global order, and a partner worthy of respect.”
He also highlighted that Xi Jinping was addressed with a tone reflecting dignity, reverence, and balance—a style rarely seen in Trump’s speeches.
Comparing this behavior with Trump’s visits to Riyadh, Doha, and Abu Dhabi, Setiz wrote that the U.S. president in meetings with Arab leaders spoke “like a father issuing instructions to his children,” adopting a superior and commanding stance, as if “a CEO addressing his employees.”
According to the analyst, this behavioral difference indicates that in Beijing, Trump faced a country with “historical authority, civilizational capacity, and an established position in global affairs,” a reality that inevitably shaped his tone and conduct.
Setiz further emphasized that today’s world is no longer defined by a single dominant power, and the international system is rapidly moving toward balance and multipolarity.
He warned that Trump and his aligned political faction must accept that “America holds no grandeur without global engagement,” and that only by understanding new realities can it maintain its position.
