Tehran- IRAF- Trump told reporters Monday night in Florida that the war against Iran would end “very soon,” but he did not provide a specific timeline.
A senior U.S. government official, speaking on condition of anonymity, claimed that Trump will not stop the war until he can claim a satisfactory victory.
Meanwhile, individuals familiar with Trump’s thinking said he has at times been surprised that Tehran has not surrendered despite the joint U.S.–Israeli military campaign.
Sources said that in recent days some of Trump’s advisors have encouraged him to present a plan for withdrawing the United States from the war and argue that the military has already achieved many of its objectives.
While much of the president’s conservative support base still backs the initial operations against Iran, some of his advisors have expressed concern that a prolonged war could erode that support.
Results of several recent polls indicate that many Americans oppose the war. Informed sources said that Trump has received briefing reports about some of these polls.
According to sources whose names were not disclosed, some of Trump’s advisors have also been concerned about oil prices rising above $100 per barrel. They have also been responding to questions from some Republicans who are worried about the upcoming midterm elections.
