Tehran- IRAF- Numan Kurtulmuş spoke to reporters in Istanbul on Sunday, February 22, warning about the consequences of any military adventure against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Kurtulmuş stated that Turkey’s position regarding Iran is clear and firm: “A U.S. attack on Iran would be catastrophic for the region. Such an action, even if it starts as a short-term strike, could escalate into a prolonged conflict, causing immense vulnerabilities and chaos with an uncertain end.”
He added that Ankara would deploy all its efforts to prevent this “disaster.”
The Speaker of the Turkish Parliament, referring to the history of U.S. military interventions, said Washington has not learned from past occupations. He stated: “The U.S. gained no benefits from the long-term occupations of countries like Afghanistan and Iraq, and only bore heavy costs.”
Role of the Zionist Lobby in Creating Crises Against Iran
Kurtulmuş, pointing to the influence of lobbies on U.S. foreign policy, said: “The main determining factor in whether the U.S. attacks Iran is the influence of the Zionist lobby, which is seeking to rescue Benjamin Netanyahu from his political deadlock.”
The World Moving Toward a “Rule of the Strong”
Referring to developments in Venezuela and threats to Greenland’s sovereignty, Kurtulmuş warned that the current international order is collapsing, and the world is moving toward a situation where only the powerful countries decide.
He added that despite a ceasefire in Gaza, the situation remains disastrous and called for an international response.
He condemned the crimes of the Zionist settlers in the West Bank: “The people of Gaza are still breaking their fast in flood-affected tents with minimal food, while the world merely watches.”
Erdogan: We Oppose Any Military Action Against Iran
Recently, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of Turkey, also stated that Turkey has communicated its position to all relevant parties and opposes any military action against Iran.
Erdogan added that a new war targeting Iran would benefit no one; on the contrary, it is the region that would suffer losses.
