Tehran- IRAF- Taliban authorities in Bamiyan have announced the unveiling of a book titled “Allegiance to the Commander of the Faithful” at the province’s university. The work, which they say was written by Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada, the Taliban’s supreme leader, is intended to serve as an intellectual and ideological reference within the group’s academic institutions. In official Taliban discourse, Habatullah is referred to as the “Commander of the Faithful.”
Gol Haidar Shafaq, the Taliban governor of Bamiyan, called on professors and students during the ceremony to “promote the content of the book within society and implement it in practice.”
In remarks published by his press office on the social media platform X, he claimed that in his meetings with Habatullah Akhundzada, he had found him to be a “prudent and patient leader,” and stressed that obedience to the Taliban leader “is obligatory for all people.”
Despite announcing the event, the Taliban have released no photos or videos of the ceremony—a pattern that has precedent in the group’s official events.
Rahmatullah Mubarez, the Taliban’s intelligence chief in Bamiyan, also described the book as having “scientific and spiritual significance” and said its recommendations—particularly among students—should be taken seriously.
This move comes as the Taliban’s educational policies, ranging from extensive restrictions on women to ideological changes in universities, continue to face domestic and international criticism.
