Tehran- IRAN- Citing a statement released today (Monday, February 1), by the Afghanistan Football Federation, Ahmadullah Wasiq—who is in Jakarta to accompany Afghanistan’s national futsal team at the 2026 Asian Cup hosted by Indonesia—held talks with Michael Victor Sianipar, Chairman of the Indonesian Futsal Committee.
During the meeting, both sides discussed ways to develop futsal cooperation between Afghanistan and Indonesia and explored new avenues for sports interaction.
Key topics included facilitating the participation of Afghan players in Indonesia’s futsal league, as well as creating training opportunities for Afghan students and other Afghan nationals residing in Indonesia who are interested in futsal.
Sports officials from both countries also emphasized the importance of utilizing Indonesia’s technical and structural capacities to strengthen futsal in Afghanistan and called for the establishment of sustainable and goal-oriented cooperation.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the two sides agreed to sign a formal memorandum of understanding between the futsal committees of Afghanistan and Indonesia to institutionalize and solidify bilateral cooperation on a long-term and fundamental basis.
