Disclosure of Inhumane Conditions of Palestinian Prisoners in Israeli Jails

Tehran-IRAF- Hassan Abadi, a lawyer representing Palestinian prisoners, reported after meeting Salameh—one of the senior leaders of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), who has spent decades in Israeli prisons—that he was transferred from solitary confinement to the meeting location under heavy security measures, accompanied by masked and armed prison guards.

The Palestinian prisoner, who is being held under extremely harsh conditions in the Ganot desert prison, emphasized during the meeting with his lawyer:

“For months we have not seen the sun. We do not know whether we have become like the Companions of the Cave or the inhabitants of graves.”

Describing the conditions of himself and other Palestinian prisoners, Salameh said:

“We have lost dozens of kilograms. The food is scarce and of poor quality, and due to severe malnutrition, we have turned into ‘walking skeletons.’”

Despite years of imprisonment and prolonged solitary confinement, Salameh has maintained his spirit of resistance and said with hope:

“We are awaiting divine deliverance.”

He also expressed hope that he would spend the upcoming holy month of Ramadan with his family.

Prisoners Held in Solitary Confinement

According to Abadi, in addition to Hassan Salameh, several other Palestinian prisoners are being held under strict security conditions in solitary confinement. Among them are Mahmoud Attallah, Qusai Mar’i, Mohammad Arman, Anas Jardat, and Walid Hanatsheh.

Global Campaign to Save Prisoners in Occupation Jails

During the meeting, Salameh spoke respectfully of his wife, Ghufran Zamel, a former Palestinian prisoner, saying:
