The protesters, many of whom fought alongside American forces, marched with Danish flags and honored the memory of the 44 soldiers from Denmark who lost their lives in Afghanistan.

The Danish Veterans Association has stated that Trump’s remarks have caused distress among the soldiers and their families, leaving them feeling that Denmark’s sacrifices have been overlooked.
European Union Countries React to Trump’s Remarks on NATO
The protests came in response to previous statements made by Trump, in which he belittled the role of non-American NATO forces in the Afghanistan war, saying that they were “a bit away from the front line.”
German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius called Trump’s recent comments about NATO troops not being at the front lines of the Afghanistan war “disrespectful to the fallen” and urged Trump to apologize to the families of NATO’s deceased soldiers.
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer described the remarks as “offensive and appalling.” Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni also condemned Trump’s comments, referring to the loss of 53 Italian soldiers and over 700 injured, calling his remarks unacceptable.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, recalling the death of five Polish soldiers in 2011, urged Trump not to forget the sacrifices made by NATO allies.
The office of French President Emmanuel Macron, while expressing gratitude for the families of around 90 French soldiers killed, stated that Trump’s remarks were “not worthy of a response.”
