Tehran- IRAF- The fake news was published on a Facebook page about 19 hours ago and has gone viral on social media in Afghanistan. The news quotes the Leader of the Islamic Revolution as saying that only Afghanistan is Iran’s brother in Asia, and other countries in the region are all trying to destroy Iran. The news also claims that the Leader said; “the people of Afghanistan share Iran’s interests, while Iran will resist the efforts of other countries to confront it”.
However, IRAF News Agency, has found that this news is entirely false and fabricated. The Leader of the Islamic Revolution has not made such a statement in the past or recently. On the official website of the Office of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, the latest statement was made on January 27 in a meeting with the people of Qom. More recently, on January 31, the Leader paid respects to the Founder of the Islamic Revolution at the Imam Khomeini shrine on the eve of the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution’s victory.
The news published is not available on the official website of the Leader’s office or any major Iranian media outlets, and is entirely fabricated. Another strange point is that the publishers of this fake news claim that the Leader of Iran referred to the Taliban as “brother”. However, the Leader’s official stance on the developments in Afghanistan after the Taliban took control was expressed on September 6, 2021, in which he stated:
“Afghanistan is our brother, with the same language, religion, and culture. The misfortunes of Afghanistan deeply affect us. These are the works of America. The hardships they are facing, the consecutive events, the incidents, all of these are the works of America. They occupied this country for 20 years and committed all kinds of oppression. They bombed wedding and funeral ceremonies, imprisoned elements, increased drug production dozens of times. They did not take a single step for the civil and economic progress of Afghanistan. Afghanistan has not moved forward since then, and it is not behind either. We are in favor of the people of Afghanistan. Governments come and go. What remains is the people of Afghanistan. Our relationship with governments depends on their relationship with us.”
These statements outline the basic principles of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s policy towards Afghanistan and its rulers, showing that for Iran, the people of Afghanistan are the main concern, and they are “brothers with the same language, religion, and culture”. The relationship between Iran and the governments of Afghanistan depends on their relationship with Iran.
It is expected that the people of Afghanistan will follow the Leader’s statements, views, and guidelines through official and main media outlets, including the official website of the Office of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution at farsi.khamenei.ir, and not pay attention to negative propaganda and fake news.
