Taliban Crack Down on Illegal Migration; 870 People Arrested in Herat

Tehran- IRAF- Taliban security officials in Herat province stated that during the past week, 870 people were arrested on charges of attempting to cross Afghanistan’s western borders illegally.

Based on a statement released today Wednesday, January 27, by the Taliban’s 207th Al-Farouq Corps, the individuals intended to reach Iran via border routes in Herat.

The military body said that border forces, in several separate operations, succeeded in stopping these individuals before they left Afghan territory.

The statement emphasized that those arrested were handed over to the relevant authorities after initial investigations in order to complete legal procedures.

Security officials said the purpose of these measures is to strengthen border control, prevent human smuggling, and enhance security along the Afghanistan–Iran border strip.

It is worth noting that in recent months, attempts to cross Afghanistan’s western borders illegally have increased, and Taliban security forces have announced that they have intensified surveillance and patrols in these areas.
