Tehran- IRAF- The documentary by Amazon’s film studio about Melania Trump, the First Lady of the United States, has seen very poor reception at the “Vue” cinema chain in Scotland, with only about one percent of tickets sold. An investigation by The Herald newspaper found that out of approximately 2,000 available tickets, only 20 were purchased.
Public Criticism and Two Tickets Sold in London
Tim Richards, CEO of the Vue cinema chain, stated on the first day of screenings in Scotland and England that ticket sales for this documentary were “weak.” He told The Telegraph that people had sent numerous emails criticizing Vue’s decision to show the film but emphasized that they do not censor movies.
The Guardian and The Daily Telegraph have also reported on the disappointing sales of this documentary about Donald Trump’s wife. The Telegraph wrote that on its opening day, only two tickets were sold at the Vue cinema in Islington, London.
Heavy Investment by Amazon
Amazon MGM Studios acquired the distribution rights to this film for $40 million and spent an additional $35 million on advertising and marketing.
The documentary, which U.S. President Donald Trump has called mandatory viewing, recounts the days leading up to his 2025 inauguration from Melania Trump’s perspective. It includes exclusive, never-before-seen footage of meetings, private conversations, and settings.
Filming for this documentary began in December of last year, one month after Donald Trump’s re-election victory in the U.S. presidential election. The film is directed by Brett Ratner and marks his first major project since 2017.
