Completion of the TAPI Project in Herat by the End of the Current Gregorian Year

Tehran- IRAF- Based on a statement issued by the Taliban Ministry of Mines and Trade, Hedayatullah Badri, Acting Minister of Mines of the Taliban, met today (Monday, January 22) with Batur Yolov, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan in Kabul. Expressing satisfaction with the progress made and emphasizing comprehensive cooperation, he stressed the need to accelerate the implementation of the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India (TAPI) gas pipeline project.

The Acting Minister of Mines of the Taliban also emphasized the preparation of employment opportunities for Afghan citizens and the pursuit of broad‑based cooperation.

Preparation of 91 Kilometers of Route and Planning for Completion of the Herat Section

At the meeting, Bangaj Abdullah Yov, the TAPI project manager in Afghanistan, announced that so far 91 kilometers of the pipeline route have been prepared for pipe‑laying.

Meanwhile, Batur Yolov, the Consul General of Turkmenistan in Herat, emphasized that, based on the plans in place, work on the project in Herat province will be completed by the end of 2024.

Annual Revenue of $400 Million for Afghanistan

The international TAPI pipeline has a total length of 1,814 kilometers, of which 774 kilometers pass through Afghan territory. Once completed, this regional project will not only supply part of Afghanistan’s gas needs but will also generate approximately $400 million annually in transit revenues for the country.
