Tehran- IRAF- The spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, speaking at his weekly press briefing with journalists today, Monday, January 26, referred to the rapidly evolving developments in West Asia and described the Zionist regime as the primary source of insecurity in Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, and the broader region. He stated that; despite the so-called ceasefire in Gaza, attacks and repeated violations of Lebanon’s airspace continue. He added that the regime’s racist policies persist even against Palestinians holding its citizenship, which constitutes a clear example of an apartheid system.
Countries Should Not Squander Their Credibility
In response to leaked remarks by Emmanuel Macron regarding the possibility of “major actions” against Iran, Baghaei said that policymaking cannot be carried out through the exchange of private, unreliable text messages. He stressed that countries must act responsibly and through official diplomatic channels. He described such rhetoric as ambiguous and underlined that the era in which extra-regional powers made decisions on behalf of other countries has come to an end.
Iran’s Defense Cooperation with Russia and China Continues
Referring to Tehran’s longstanding relations with Moscow and Beijing, the Foreign Ministry spokesperson said Iran’s defense cooperation with Russia and China continues based on formal agreements and mutual interests, and that Iran remains in close contact with both countries regarding recent developments.
U.S. Human Rights Approach is Double-Standard and Hypocritical
Baghaei criticized the United States’ record on human rights, calling its approach mercenary and hypocritical. He said Washington ignores the crimes of the Zionist regime while simultaneously dealing violently with popular protests within its own borders.
Iran Will Respond Decisively to Any Aggression
Referring to recent U.S. threats and military movements in the region, he emphasized that Iran is not the initiator of war, but will deliver a comprehensive and regret-inducing response to any aggression, and will defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Accusations Against Iran at the IAEA Are Baseless
Rejecting claims that Iran has failed to meet its nuclear commitments, the Foreign Ministry spokesperson said the Islamic Republic has adhered to its obligations more than any other country. He added that damage to nuclear facilities is the result of blatant violations of international law by the aggressors.
Labeling the IRGC is a Costly Move
Baghaei described European threats to designate the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization as contrary to international law and an ill-considered action, stressing that the Islamic Republic of Iran reserves the right to take reciprocal measures.
Iran Has Not Rejected Diplomacy but Will Not Remain Silent in the Face of Threats
In conclusion, he said Iran has always been open to dialogue and negotiation, but a party seeking war and confrontation cannot expect concessions. The Islamic Republic of Iran, he stressed, will stand firm against excessive demands.
