Tehran- IRAF- During the meeting, the Taliban’s Acting Interior Minister referred to measures taken against poppy cultivation, drug production, and drug trafficking in Afghanistan, stating that these measures have yielded positive and significant results.
He also emphasized that constructive engagement between the Taliban and the international community, based on mutual respect and genuine cooperation, could help build greater trust.
For her part, Rosemary DiCarlo expressed satisfaction with Afghanistan’s security situation and the efforts made in combating narcotics, and reaffirmed the continuation of UN humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan.
She further announced that the working groups established during the third round of the Doha talks will hold their next meeting in Kabul.
The UN Under-Secretary-General, who traveled to Kabul on Saturday, January 25, had earlier met with Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Taliban’s Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs.
During that meeting, the two sides exchanged views on political engagement, the role of the United Nations in facilitating dialogue between the Taliban and the international community, the humanitarian situation, and ways to strengthen international cooperation with Afghanistan.
