Suspension of Pakistan’s Pharmaceutical Exports; Bangladesh Ready to Invest in the Afghan Market

Tehran- IRAF- Na’eemollah Ayubi, Director General of Drug and Food Regulation at Afghanistan’s Ministry of Public Health, met and held talks with officials in Bangladesh’s pharmaceutical and health sectors during his visit to the country.

According to a statement by the Taliban, the meeting emphasized the need for transparency and legality in pharmaceutical trade, and both sides called for accelerating the process of registration, evaluation, and approval of pharmaceutical products in line with international standards.

Afghanistan’s Ministry of Public Health also stated that; Bangladeshi officials have assured their country’s readiness to invest in the pharmaceutical sector and to export high-quality medicines to Afghanistan.

This comes as previously around 65 percent of Afghanistan’s required medicines were supplied through Pakistan; however, following recent tensions between Kabul and Islamabad, pharmaceutical imports from Pakistan have dropped to zero over the past two months.
