Mass Deportation of Afghan Migrants from Pakistan; Nearly 2,000 People Return in One Day

Tehran-IRAF- the Taliban’s High Commission for Migrant Affairs announced that Pakistan deported 1,921 Afghan citizens from its territory in just one day. Meanwhile, 113 others were also returned from the Iranian border.

According to the report, these migrants entered Afghan territory through major border crossings such as Torkham, Spin Boldak, Bahram Cheh, Pul-e Abrisham, and Islam Qal’e. This action continues a trend that Pakistan has intensified over the past few months.

The report adds that Pakistan had deported 1,604 migrants from its borders the day before. Over the past two years, the number of deported Afghan migrants from neighboring countries, especially Pakistan, has significantly increased.

Migration Crisis

Previously, the United Nations stated that approximately 2.6 million migrants returned to Afghanistan in 2025. This large-scale return, given Afghanistan’s deep humanitarian and economic crises, has raised widespread concerns among international aid organizations.

On the other hand, the UN warned about the “collapse of Afghanistan’s health system,” reporting that the cut-off of international aid and the lack of an annual budget of one billion dollars has cut off access to primary medical services for six million Afghans and left 400 health centers with a shortage of medicine and medical staff.
