Increase in Afghanistan’s Imports Via Khaf-Herat Railway: 400,000 Tons of Goods in 9 Months

Tehran-IRAF- Mohammad Yousuf Sa’eedi, spokesperson for the local Taliban administration in Herat, stated at the Rozanak station that: Over the past nine months, approximately 400,000 tons of goods from various European and Asian countries have been imported into Afghanistan through the Khaf-Herat railway.

Sa’eedi emphasized that the capacity of this route is increasing daily and plays a significant role in facilitating the country’s imports.

Based on plans, upon completion of the remaining phases of the railway, Herat will be connected to the rail networks of other countries, playing a crucial role in regional trade and transit development.

Meanwhile, the CEO of the Chabahar Free Zone Organization announced that 199 companies belonging to Afghan nationals have been registered in the zone. These investments, accompanied by the signing of 29 land allocation contracts, demonstrate Chabahar’s emergence as one of the primary bases for Afghan private sector activities outside the country and its key role in regional transit.

He added that the continuation of this trend, in addition to contributing to Afghanistan’s economic growth, can solidify Iran’s position as a regional transit hub and play a significant role in the sustainable development of the Makran coast and southeastern Iran.
