According to Iraf News Agency, the Herat Governorate announced on Sunday, January 18, that the distribution of international license plates for buses, cars, and trucks has begun.
The Herat Governorate stated in a social media message that the distribution of international license plates for cars, buses, and trucks traveling between Iran and Afghanistan has started in Herat. Approximately 600 buses and taxis and nearly 7,000 trucks will receive international license plates.
The Herat Governorate added that this move will improve driving order, facilitate the movement of vehicles, and strengthen transit cooperation between Afghanistan and neighboring countries, particularly Iran.
Herat, located in western Afghanistan, is a significant economic hub and plays a crucial role in regional transit due to its extensive borders with Iran and Turkmenistan. The Khaf-Herat railway and the Dogharoon customs are key regional corridors, connecting Herat to Iran and other countries in the region, including China, Turkey, and Arab countries.
