According to IRAF News Agency, on Sunday, 14 Dey, Seyyed Roohollah Hosseini, Iran’s Cultural Counselor in Afghanistan, met with Mawlawi Mozaffar, governor of Sar-e Pol, to review the progress of the first and second phases of the Imamzadeh Yahya ibn Zaid (AS) restoration project.
Twinning with Iranian Holy Shrines and Expanding Cultural Relations
During the meeting, Hosseini highlighted the project’s achievements and stressed the importance of deepening cultural cooperation between the two countries, while appreciating the support of Mawlawi Mozaffar. He also announced preparations for twinning the shrine with Iran’s holy sites, including the shrines of Imam Reza (AS), Hazrat Mas’oomeh (SA), and Imamzadeh Yahya in Miyami (Khorasan Razavi).
Shrines as a Source of Unity and Cultural Resilience
Hosseini noted Iran’s successful experience in cultural activities around shrines, describing such sites as key instruments for fostering unity and countering Western cultural influence.
Afghanistan Ready to Continue Collaboration
Governor Mawlawi Mozaffar emphasized Sar-e Pol’s readiness to cooperate on phases three and four of the restoration, affirming the province’s commitment to continuing this major project.
The two sides concluded the meeting by reaffirming their commitment to strengthening and expanding the historical and cultural ties between Iran and Afghanistan.
The restoration work on Imamzadeh Yahya (AS) in Sar-e Pol had resumed in Mordad after a two-decade hiatus, with the presence of Iran’s Cultural Counselor and the Consul General in Mazar-e-Sharif. Officials describe the shrine as a symbol of unity and pride for the Islamic Ummah, holding shared significance for both Shia and Sunni communities.
