Tehran- IRAF- The Moldavi government stated that, due to security concerns and flight safety, the operations of Afghan airlines and several other countries have been suspended in its airspace and airports.
Vladimir Bolea, Deputy Prime Minister of Moldavi, signed the new instruction, which subjects the operations of over 200 airlines from about 20 countries to either restrictions or a complete ban.
Moldavi officials cited flight safety issues and non-compliance with international standards as the reasons for this decision.
According to the instruction, airlines from Afghanistan, Russia, Iran, and North Korea are included in the country’s aviation sanctions list.
Most of the airlines on this list face a complete ban on operating in Moldavi airspace and airports, while a few have been granted very limited operational permissions under specific conditions.
Ban to Continue Until EU Membership
Moldavi authorities stated that, these restrictions are temporary until the country completes its process of joining the European Union and fully aligns its aviation laws with EU standards.
Moldavi, which officially applied for EU membership in 2022, has begun extensive reforms in government, judiciary, and the economy.
Previously, the country’s president stated that Moldavi could only withstand Russia if it became an EU member.
Moldavi is the poorest country in Europe, and EU membership represents hope for greater prosperity for its people.
Officially known as the Republic of Moldavi, the country is landlocked in Eastern Europe, bordered by Romania to the west and Ukraine from the northeast to the south.
