Tehran- IRAF- quoting the ministry’s press release, the ceremony was attended by Mohammad Fasihoddin Fetrat, Chief of Staff of the Taliban Army, several heads and officials from the Ministry of Defense, and commanders of central units.
Mohammad Fasihoddin Fetrat stated that the purpose of introducing the new uniforms is to establish discipline and a unified identity among the military forces. He said:
“Uniforms are distributed to ensure order, discipline, and a shared identity among the troops. We must fully observe this discipline. The new uniform symbolizes our unity and solidarity, and those who join the armed forces should take defending the country as both a commitment and a responsibility.”
At the ceremony, Enayatullah Kharazmi, spokesperson for the Taliban Ministry of Defense, also emphasized the importance of military personnel adhering to professional principles. He said:
“Every soldier must have strong willpower and high-level thinking; they should be firm and resolute against the country’s enemies, and act ethically and responsibly toward their own people. Moreover, each individual must strictly follow military discipline and principles and not neglect their responsibilities.”
According to Taliban defense officials, the new uniform will be officially distributed to various military units after approval by the ministry’s leadership.
Before the introduction of this uniform, one of the major challenges in the Taliban’s security structure was the lack of a consistent and identifiable attire among its forces.
In previous years, many Taliban members operated in cities and at checkpoints without official uniforms, often wearing different types of clothing—a practice that had drawn repeated criticism from citizens.
The absence of a standardized uniform made it difficult to distinguish official forces from unauthorized armed individuals, creating opportunities for misuse, according to residents.
This issue was one of the key reasons that prompted the Taliban to design and introduce a new uniform, aiming to create greater order and transparency within their security structure.
