Tehran- IRAF- Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, wrote in a message on the social media platform X: “It is regrettable that the Munich Security Conference, which was usually regarded as a serious and prestigious event, has turned into a ‘Munich Circus’ when it comes to Iran.”
He added that this decline, where appearances are prioritized over substance, carries important messages:
- The European Union appears confused; the root of this confusion lies in its inability to understand the developments taking place inside Iran;
- From a strategic perspective, a directionless European Union has lost all its geopolitical weight in our region;
- Specifically, Germany has become the pioneer in fully handing over its regional policy to Israel;
- At the very least, Europe’s overall trajectory is deeply troubling and alarming.
He emphasized: “What does this situation mean in practice? The paralysis and irrelevance of the European Union and the European troika in developments surrounding the ongoing negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program are clearly evident.”
Araghchi stated that Europe, once one of the main parties to the negotiations, is now absent from the scene. In contrast, he said, Iran’s regional partners are acting far more effectively and constructively than what he described as the incapable and marginalized European troika.
