Tehran- IRAF- Representatives of the Afghanistan Poultry Farmers Union met with the Acting Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock of the Taliban.
During the meeting, the union representatives presented a report on the current state of production in the sector, stating that the country’s poultry industry has reached a stage close to self‑sufficiency and that efforts are ongoing to attain complete self‑sufficiency in all sub‑sectors.
At the meeting, the Acting Minister of Agriculture of the Taliban emphasized improving both the quality and quantity of poultry products, stressing the need to increase the production of eggs, chicken meat, feed, and chick placement, as well as to improve pricing mechanisms and product quality in Afghanistan’s poultry industry.
The meeting was held as part of the Taliban Ministry of Agriculture’s development policies and aimed to review the challenges and opportunities facing Afghanistan’s poultry sector.
Poultry Sector Status: Progress and Shortcomings
Reports from Afghanistan’s poultry sector indicate relative progress in certain areas. Some poultry farms have been modernized, and hatchery capacity has increased in specific regions. However, major gaps remain in the production chain.
Experts in Afghanistan’s poultry industry cite the lack of modern equipment, difficulties in securing animal feed inputs, and technical limitations as some of the main obstacles to the sector’s development.
