Tehran- IRAF- Aziz Nasirzadeh, speaking today (Tuesday, February 2) at the National Space Technology Day ceremony, stated that the role of space in human life is expanding every day and emphasized that no country can afford to remain indifferent to this domain.
He stressed that in recent years, insufficient attention has been paid to certain sectors, including the space sector, which has resulted in a gap between Iran and some global actors.
According to him, space has now become not only a scientific and technological field, but also one of the main instruments of governance and policymaking.
Referring to the entry of new actors into this arena, the Minister of Defense added:
“Today, space has become an environment that directly influences major national decision-making processes, and this influence will become even stronger in the near future.”
He emphasized that this transformation requires a serious reconsideration of traditional approaches to geopolitics.
Nasirzadeh also referred to the publication of national security documents by several major powers in recent months, noting:
“These documents explicitly state that the exercise of power no longer necessarily requires physical presence, and that countries can project power remotely, largely through space.”
He described this trend as “a new form of power projection” that is reshaping the structure of international competition.
Emphasizing that these developments must be reflected within the country’s scientific community, the Minister of Defense addressed geopolitics researchers, saying:
“We are facing a new geopolitical space. It is essential for professors and specialists in this field to monitor and analyze these changes with greater precision so that the country can secure and consolidate its rightful position in this new arena.”
