Tehran Slams EU Decision on IRGC, Summons Ambassadors

Tehran- IRAF- Continuing the official reactions of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the EU’s recent decision, Esma’eel Baghaei, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, expressed clear and strong positions during today’s press conference (Monday, February 1).

He stated: “Summoning the ambassadors was the minimum measure taken. Over yesterday and today, all ambassadors of European Union members who have embassies in Tehran were summoned, and Iran’s protest was formally conveyed to them.”

Reviewing Countermeasures Against Europe

Baghaei announced that a set of retaliatory options has been formulated and submitted to the relevant decision‑making bodies.

He emphasized that decisions regarding Iran’s potential measures will be made in the coming days.

Referring to the reaction of the Zionist regime to this decision, the Foreign Ministry spokesperson added: “The fact that the Zionist regime congratulated Germany on this move shows who the director of this show really is. One should offer condolences to the people of Europe for having such politicians.”

Response to U.S. Claims and CENTCOM’s Warning

In response to a question about CENTCOM’s warning regarding Iran’s military exercises, Baghaei said: “Labeling and insulting descriptions do not change the nature of the IRGC. The IRGC is an official part of Iran’s armed forces, rooted in the Iranian nation, and it knows well how to carry out its duties.”

He stressed that Iran’s annual military drills are held “in a professional and orderly manner,” adding: “The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps is the guardian of security and stability in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, and all parties must bear this clear reality in mind.”
