According to IRAF, the tournament is being held in five groups of four teams each and began on December 26 (5 Dey), continuing through December 30 (10 Dey). Teams will compete in the group stage for preparation to the knockout rounds.
According to information provided by the organizers, several players from Afghanistan’s national football team are also taking part in the tournament, a factor that has raised the technical level and overall appeal of the competition.
This comes as the tournament also attracted the attention of Afghan football officials last year. At that time, Yousuf Kargar, acting head of the Afghanistan Football Federation, along with Osman Toshiev, then head coach of the Afghanistan national football team, attended the matches to observe and evaluate players with the aim of identifying and selecting talent for the national team.
The tournament is being held with the objectives of strengthening social and cultural cohesion among Afghans living abroad, identifying sporting talent, and expanding football activities within the Afghan migrant community, and has been met with strong interest from sports enthusiasts.
